BPER, with "Let's stop polluting!", avoided almost 9 tons of CO₂ in three months.

Rewarding positive actions, like cycling to work, is good for the climate and health. The 2025 edition of "Let's Stop Polluting!" , BPER 's initiative to promote sustainable mobility among employees by encouraging them to commute to the office by bike, on foot, or on a scooter, concluded with growing numbers.
Developed in collaboration with the Wecity platform, this year's initiative involved 430 employees between July and September, covering a total of 61,532 kilometers and saving 8.6 tons of CO₂ . This achievement is equivalent to the annual absorption of over 1,231 mature trees.
In addition to measuring CO₂ savings, estimated at approximately 1 kg for every 7 km traveled, the Wecity platform allowed for real-time monitoring of routes traveled, certification of kilometers traveled, and encouragement through individual and regional rankings.
“This year's success is a concrete demonstration of how collective commitment can translate into a real benefit for the environment and the community,” underlines Andrea Merenda , Chief People Officer of BPER. “Initiatives like 'Let's Stop Polluting!' help us spread a culture of sustainability that starts with the individual and extends throughout the entire organization.”
"This year's edition demonstrates how gamification tailored specifically to the corporate environment allows for greater employee engagement and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. By rewarding the frequency of bike use, rather than just mileage, users have doubled. Even in terms of travel, the change has been significant," added Paolo Ferri , founder and CEO of Wecity.
The results of the initiative are temporally placed within the initiatives planned for the twentieth edition of the European Sustainable Mobility Week , scheduled from 16 to 22 September 2025.
